Polish Presidency of the Council: Main priorities

15. January 2025/in Europe, General, Members' News, News

As Poland takes the helm of the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union from January 1 to June 30, 2025, CEC European Managers highlights its main priorities.

This transition marks the start of a new presidency trio, comprising Poland, Denmark, and Cyprus, under the guiding motto, Security, Europe.

The Polish Presidency, unveiled in its December 2024 program, emphasizes seven interwoven security dimensions: external, internal, information, economic, energy, food, and health.

This security-centered agenda reflects the geopolitical challenges of a shifting international order.

Key Areas of Engagement for European Managers

Economic and Business Environment

Poland aims to streamline administrative processes, encourage innovation, and advance the EU’s clean energy transition while maintaining affordable energy access to ensure economic competitiveness.

Legislative efforts such as payment service reform, the digital euro, the Union Customs Code, and late payment directives are vital for financial stability—issues directly relevant to European managers.

Poland’s emphasis on cohesion policies and the preference for incentive-based climate initiatives is also relevant to managers, as it resonates with managerial goals of fostering sustainable growth and minimizing unnecessary bureaucratic burdens.

Employment and Social Affairs

The Presidency’s focus on directives related to European Works Councils, traineeships, equal treatment, and renewed discussions on social security coordination mirrors CEC’s advocacy for improved labour mobility and equitable treatment of managers.

Digital Transformation and Information Security

Addressing disinformation and foreign interference—especially in environmental and climate discourse—underscores the Presidency’s dedication to democratic integrity. This focus aligns with the managerial emphasis on protecting the flow of accurate information, which is essential for strategic decision-making.

Energy Security

Poland’s ambition to expedite the EU’s withdrawal from Russian fossil fuels and diversify energy sources complements its vision for a robust green energy framework.

These measures balance affordability with sustainability, a critical consideration for managers overseeing operational and financial planning.

Collaborative Engagement

CEC European Managers will remain closely involved with the Presidency’s programs, ensuring that managerial voices are part of the broader EU dialogue.

Focusing on economic growth, social equity, and secure operational frameworks aligns with CEC European Managers’s mission to empower European leaders and shape a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable Europe.
