Despite years of progress, the gender pay gap remains one of the most persistent inequalities in the labour market. Across Europe, women still earn on average less than men for the same work or work of equal value.
The gender pay gap inequality not only undermines fairness and trust in workplaces but also has long-term consequences for women’s economic independence and pensions.
Conducting regular pay equity analyses is a crucial step to uncover hidden biases. Transparent salary structures, clear evaluation criteria, and systematic reviews are proven ways to ensure that pay disparities do not go unnoticed or unaddressed. But analysis alone is not enough—managers and employers must act decisively to correct identified inequalities.
Ensuring equal pay for equal work across genders is more than a legal obligation. It is a moral and strategic imperative.
Companies that embrace pay equity build stronger cultures of trust, retain top talent, and demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility.
With BEYONDBIAS now counting down its last recommendations, this call for action reminds us that bias is not inevitable—it is a choice we can undo. Ensuring fair pay is one of the clearest and most impactful steps towards truly bias-free workplaces.
Stay tuned for the final two recommendations of BEYONDBIAS. Together, they will complete the 20 concrete actions managers and organisations can take to root out bias and build more inclusive, fair, and forward-looking workplaces.
